🌑 The Virgo Black Moon: Honoring the Darkness, Embracing the Shadow
On August 23, we welcome a rare Black Moon — the third new moon in a season of four. Black Moons are powerful portals, inviting us into the mystery of the dark. They are times of renewal, endings, and beginnings, where we’re asked to pause, reflect, and trust the unknown.
This Virgo Black Moon arrives at zero degrees, a potent threshold of beginnings. Zero degrees is liminal space — the point between endings and rebirth. It is the void, the cocoon, the pause between what was and what will be. In this space, we are asked to surrender, trust, and allow.
Virgo as Our Guide
Virgo is represented by the Virgin archetype, not in the way we typically think of purity, but in sovereignty and wholeness. The Virgin needs no external validation. She is whole within herself.
This Virgo energy encourages us to ground, nourish ourselves, and listen to the quiet wisdom within. It’s about trusting our intuition and honoring the most important relationship we’ll ever have: the one with ourselves.
Sedna’s Story & The Lessons of Abandonment
Also present in this cosmic dance is Sedna, the dwarf planet linked to transformation and abandonment. In mythology, Sedna was betrayed and cast into the sea — but from the depths, she became the Mother of sea life.
Sedna’s lesson is powerful: what feels like rejection can be a redirection into our true path. Through abandonment or endings, we can find our strength, our calling, and our wholeness.
Shadow Work & the Black Moon
Shadow work mirrors the energy of the Black Moon. Both ask us to face the dark — not as something to fear, but as fertile soil for growth.
Through shadow work we:
Build greater self-awareness and authenticity
Heal emotional wounds and grow resilience
Create more compassionate relationships
Unlock creative energy and vitality
Deepen spiritually through wholeness
Break free of old, repeating patterns
The Black Moon reminds us: darkness is not the absence of light — it’s the beginning of it. Seeds germinate in the soil before they bloom. Transformation begins in the unseen.
Reflection for the Black Moon
Take time under this moon to pause and ask yourself:
✨ What am I ready to release into the dark?
✨ What part of me is rising to be seen, even if it feels uncomfortable?
✨ What seed of possibility is quietly forming within me?
An Invitation
This Black Moon is a teacher, a guide, and an initiation into your shadow. If this resonates with you, I’d love to invite you into my upcoming Root & Reveal Shadow Work Journey. Together, we’ll honor both shadow and light, moving through the inner work that allows us to step into deeper authenticity, healing, and transformation.
🌑 You don’t have to journey through the dark alone — we’ll walk it together, and find the light it carries.
